Great friends great birthday

Yesterday was my 32nd birthday so we went to dinner at Yard House in City Centre. We had a great time and I really appreciated everyone forgoing the Bachelorette finale to celebrate the evening with me. Larry wouldn't miss it for the world...so he stayed home to watch who Ali chose :)

My dad and I have spent the last year or so searching antiques stores for antique levels. We have found seven so far and I finally put mine to good use as picture ledges in our master bedroom. LOVE them!!

Last minute parties can be the best parties

We had to cancel our river trip to Junction due to weather but ended up having a great pool party at our house to celebrate the fourth of July.

Not sure why, but for some reason shooting off fireworks in our front yard is legal! The boys went and bought a great display of fireworks. And since we're in a cul de sac we were able to watch three sets going off for the price of one.

Hang on to your hats!!

After three years together Larry finally let me drive his truck (well, HAD to let me)! And even with the dash blocking my view I avoided hitting the cars around me and made it home without a scratch. Well, maybe just a little scratch. He keeps telling me not to eat cereal while driving...or text, or put on makeup, or blow-dry my hair, etc :/

...and last but not least

We are LOVING the pool. Just looking at it is a stress reliever for me. Larry on the other hand needs to throw the soaker squish ball at my face to relieve stress. Love you too honey ;) The dogs enjoy having their own backyard too.

A nutjob just moved into the neighborhood

I walked my mom out and the boys were looking out from the two side windows. It was so cute so I ran in to get the camera. They were not as cooperative once I had the camera. My neighbors probably thought I was nuts tapping on one side trying to get Hutson to stay put while I ran to the other window to get Higgins to come over. Haha After putting peanut butter on each window and many more attempts running back and forth, they finally split up for the reenactment! Here are some more pics of the rooms that we have put together so far.
One is of our office/den. The walls look much darker in person. We have our desk off to the right. All the wall colors are from the previous owners. We lucked out that they had good taste and that all of our stuff fit perfectly.

What else can I say! I just love them! We went to Victoria last weekend to spend the day with Walter, Mable, dad, and Marge. We had a fish fry Saturday night and had such a good visit.

Bye Bye Berte...

We're packing up and saying good bye to our first home together. As we spend our last weeks here I thought I'd blog some pics of our 1st home before we leave. Some have only seen it as the bachelor pad and others have seen it as our home.

Bachelor pad dining room consisted of a foosball table, tools in a cardboard box, and a set of weights. We now have a real table and chairs.

B-pad living room consisted of black sofas, art deco above the mantel, and a zebra print chaise (man I miss that thing, NOT).



Master bedroom hasn't changed much. The walls were dingy white and *we painted it a Hazy Sage. LOVE the new color! *We also tossed out the old "boy" duvet cover and upgraded to a king size blanket. Someone tends to be quite the cover hog (won't mention any names). *once you get married you start using we which really still means I, haha

There's our first home folks. As much as I wasn't looking forward to moving into #375, I will miss it terribly. Well, maybe only until I lay out by our new pool ;)

Larry's Eight Squared...

Larry said he wouldn't complete my challenge so I decided to help him out. The first one was funnier (for those who might have seen it for the split second it was up) but per Larry's sweet request I changed it. This pic is from our trip to Vegas for a friends wedding. Larry won $250 first thing after checking in to our hotel.

This is a picture from one of the best days of my life (second to our wedding day), my 30th birthday. My parents, brother, and closest friends here in Houston got together to celebrate the big 3-0. There is a combo feeling of wanting to jump up and down along with wanting to throw up! I think I want to jump up and down and Larry wants to vomit. haha Closing is set for June 18th and we are so excited! The pool is our favorite part!!

...Mammy Berte is now quilting. This is
my latest project and quite the project it is. I've done a quilt top in the past but this time I'm trying to do the actual quilting myself. I will be putting down the needle and thread Thursday night though...Ole' GrandPappy is taking me to play Bingo!! woh, I almost wet my adult diaper just thinking about it!

I collect drummer boy quarters.

My favorite drink is Coke out of a glass bottle.

My guilty pleasure is watching The Big Bang Theory (I LOVE that show)!

I have a red dot (birthmark maybe?) on the bottom of my left big toe.

I've been known to spend 8 hours in Hobby Lobby at one time.

I like cheddar cheese but won't eat it on anything (Larry came up with this one). I do like it but I won't eat it on hamburgers, salads, or tacos.

What on earth....

...was I thinking?! Larry has been a part of the Rodeo Run since he's worked for Conoco and he signed me up this year! Each year Larry tries to beat his previous time...so his goal this year was to complete the 10k in under 50 minutes. My goal was to cross the 5k finish line without EMS assistance. Well, we both succeeded! He finished the 10k in a whopping 47.40 minutes and I finished the 5k in 36 minutes. It felt great to finish my first run yesterday...but today...I wish the toilet seat was just a little higher. haha I'm hurtin' pretty good but it was worth it.

Driftwood cross

Leslie's mom was telling us about the crosses she was making and took us to a great bead store on Harwin St. Larry and I collected the pieces of driftwood down in Port O'Connor over Thanksgiving. I think I went overboard on the beads compared to Karen's but it was fun making them.

Bingo

We had so much fun playing bingo last night with the group! Larry was being grumpy bear though and wouldn't look up for a picture (to the right). I guess he was being shy.


But then he changed into his lucky Hawaiian shirt, won, and got really excited (below). Not sure why the camera put so many years on him.

The next Beckham??

It's not very often I get to watch Larry play soccer. But today was one of those days. Of course, since I don't know anything about soccer, I think he's the best player on the field. Look at those skills. At the very least, he's definitely the best looking :)

Valentine's Dinner

Valentine's dinner Saturday night with Les and Tim. Larry wants to mention the pineapple. They have delicious brown sugar glazed/grilled pineapple. Great food, great company!

I may be a little bias but I really do think we have the two cutest dogs on the planet!!

Antique earrings

Not sure where I'll ever get to wear this or one other necklace, but they were fun to make. The left over earrings made for a cute framed display.

Larry and Higgins just relaxing while watching t.v. We don't have the big screen yet but hopefully soon. It took several months for Larry to finally pick and order the one he wanted...waited another week only to receive a damaged t.v.! He swears I kicked the screen in, but I'm blaming the one man delivery service.
